Before you apply, make sure you meet the following 887 Visa requirements.

Holding An Eligible Visa

Anyone wanting to apply for the 887 Visa has to hold an eligible provisional visa at the time of application. The eligible visa options are:

  • Subclass 475 Visa
  • Subclass 495 Visa
  • Subclass 489 Visa
  • Subclass 487 Visa
  • Subclass 496 Visa

Alternatively, holding a Bridging Visa A or B after making an application for a Subclass 495, 489, or 487 Visa will also make you eligible.

Residence Requirement

While holding one of the visas mentioned above, you should have lived for at least 2 years in a regional area of Australia.

  • If you were nominated by a territory or state government for the visa you held, you should have resided in a low-population growth metropolitan area.
  • If a family member sponsored you for your previous visa, living in a designated regional area is required.

Work Requirement

To be eligible for the 887 Visa in Australia, having 1 year of full-time work experience in a regional area is necessary.
